Birgitte Lange appointed Interim Secretary General

Birgitte Lange has been appointed Interim Secretary General of the Norwegian Forum for Development and Environment (ForUM) following the sudden passing of Kathrine Sund-Henriksen.

Lange has 25 years of experience in various leadership positions. She was the Secretary General of Save the Children Norway from 2018 to 2024 and has also served as Deputy Director of the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) and Director General of the Norwegian Ministry of Culture.

Over the past year, she has worked full-time assisting individual leaders and leadership groups with various leadership-related issues, and she also teaches leadership.

"I thank the board of ForUM for their trust and look forward to being a part of ForUM in the time ahead. Now I will get to know the employees, tasks, and what will be important to prioritise," says Lange.

She will hold the interim position until August 31, while the board initiates the process to appoint a new Secretary General for a five-year term.

"Together with the skilled employees in ForUM's secretariat, we are confident that Birgitte will lead ForUM well during the interim period and further develop a solid organisation until a new Secretary General is in place," says Eirik Lindebjerg, Chairman of the Board of ForUM.

Kathrine Sund-Henriksen began as Secretary General of ForUM in 2019. She passed away suddenly from acute illness on Monday, February 10.
