Biographical information

Sara Brandt runs the Crisis Response Fund, which supports civil society organisations worldwide facing civic space restrictions. She is from Denmark but has lived in Egypt for 2,5 years prior to joining CIVICUS where she worked as International Advocacy Advisor for the local women's rights organisation, Center for Egyptian Women's Legal Assistance. In the past, she has worked for Amnesty International, the Danish Refugee Council, and the Danish Ministry of Immigration, and she holds a master's degree in political science from University of Copenhagen. Sara has for 12 years held various volunteer positions in the global youth exchange organisation, Youth for Understanding, and is a board member of its European umbrella organisation based in Brussels.

Geir Sjøberg er diplomat og fagdirektør for menneskerettigheter, Utenriksdepartementet. Han leder forhandlingene om menneskerettighetsforkjempere i FNs generalforsamling og FNs menneskerettighetsråd, og har ledet arbeidet med stortingsmeldingen om menneskerettigheter i utenriks- og utviklingspolitikken (Meld St. 10, 2014-15). Geir var stabssjef for OSSE Høykommissær Vollebæk og spesialrådgiver for FN-utsending Bondevik. Hav var tidligere del av Norges team i bl. a. FNs menneskerettighetsråd (2009-13), FNs sikkerhetsråd (2001-02) og i forhandlinger om klima, utvikling og miljø på 90-tallet, stasjonert i New York, Geneve, Paris og Haag, samt feltoppdrag i India (Norad) og Sri Lanka (SLMM overvåkingsstyrke).

Jørn Lemvik er utdannet lærer med hovedfag i Edb og ledelse. Han har arbeidet 12 år i Etiopia, mest med kirker, ledelse og utviklingsarbeid. Han har drevet et enmannsfirma i ca 20 år hvor han har arbeidet med "ledelse og organisasjon" i ca 30 land, i hovedsak med kirker, bistands-organisasjoner og andre ikke profitt organisasjoner. Jørn har vært generalsekretær i Digni siden 2008 og engasjert seg mye i arbeidet med religion og utvikling. Han er aktivt med i ulike nettverk, både innenfor det kirkelige landskap og innenfor FN-familien. Han har skrevet to bøker om organisasjonsutvikling, samt en del artikler om ledelse, makt, religion og utvikling.

Samuel Gwenzi is the National Coordinator for Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) and a human rights activist, currently working at SAIH on an FK Norway exchange in Norway. ZINASU exists to defend academic rights and freedoms in Zimbabwe and works towards the democratic realization of all fundamental freedoms and liberties including, political, economic, social and cultural rights of the youths and the students in Zimbabwe. Samuel has been involved in youth advocacy work in Southern Africa with a strong bias on academic freedom and students rights. He is a pan-Africanist and a strong advocate for global justice.

Torild Skogsholm er sekretariatsleder i Venstres stortingsgruppe og deltok i utvalget som forhandlet om årets utviklingsbudsjett. Hun var samferdselsminister i Bondevik II-regjeringen fra 2001 til 2005. Torild er utdannet sosialøkonom med mellomfag i spansk fra Universitetet i Oslo og grunnfag i kristendom fra Menighetsfakultetet. Hun var direktør for samfunnskontakt i teleselskapet NetCom fra 1999 til 2001. Hun har vært nestleder i Oslo Venstre, organisasjonssekretær og sentralstyremedlem i Norges Unge Venstre og leder i Venstrekvinnelaget. Fra 2006 til 2011 var Torild administrerende direktør i Oslotrikken. Fra 2011 til 2014 var hun generalsekretær i CARE Norge. I 2005 ble hun utnevnt til kommandør av St. Olavs Orden.

Juma K. Ochieng is the International Coordinator in Red Cross Youth where he amongst others coordinates an exchange programme for young people working with capacity building for youth who work with social justice and active citizenship issues. He has previously worked for Kenya Red Cross in Nairobi mainly with programmes that seek to alleviate poverty and promote human dignity. Juma and a couple of his friends are also behind several initiatives in Kenya that work with promotion of social justice, fighting corruption, impunity and advocating for alternative leadership.
