The next decade will be decisive to save the last tropical rainforests, and we at Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) aim to achieve this goal.

We are looking for a skilled and committed People & Culture Adviser, International HR.

The organization is growing, and we are becoming more international, we therefore develop and strengthen our organization, our people, methods and processes in order to meet new demands.

RFN is a diverse organization, and your ability to see and unleash the full potential of our employees and the way we interact will be essential. As adviser you will be responsible for setting the strategic HR agenda within the areas of compensation and benefits and global employment. The adviser guides and enables leaders to confidently manage their staff. Develops and implements human resources strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness and staff satisfaction in support of achieving RFN short and long-term strategic objectives.

You will be part of team People & Culture, which is an ambitious and skilled team with 4 professionals. The team is one of two teams in the department for organizational development, and you report to the Head of People & Culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic HR management and suggest new HR policies in designated fields of responsibility to deliver on the strategy
  • Serves as the expert on RFNs compensation and benefits program, policies and procedures, and being the focal point for third party partners such as insurance partners and medical providers.
  • Serves as the designated expert and adviser on global employment hereunder manage and coordinate relationships with third party supplier partners (tax, contractual arrangements & legal advice, relocation & borderless hiring and immigration)
  • Function as primary point of contact on designated HR areas, questions and issues for all employees and managers. Provide HR policy guidance.
  • Develop RFN’ standards, methods, and tools for HR management in close collaboration with members of the People & Culture team
  • Supports team leaders in recruitment, onboarding, development, retention and separation management. Ensures a good employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Identify training needs for teams and individuals.
  • Contribute and lead HR projects as needed and appropriate
  • Keep abreast of development in the area of human resource management with particular focus on designated responsibility areas, and ensure that best practice is applied
  • Trains team leaders on relevant HR issues, including new tools and procedures
  • Contributes to RFN’s efforts to learn, innovate and improve systematically

In addition, it is expected that the Advisers in the People & Culture team support and cover for each other as and when needed and support the team leaders in delivering the mandate of the team.

Competencies and skills

  • Higher education in a relevant subject area such as Organizational development, HR, Management
  • Experience with strategic and operational HR work in an international context
  • Knowledge of international employment legislation
  • HR expertise within the field of compensation & benefits and general HR management
  • Good oral communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the organization.
  • Coordination and collaboration skills. Able to work with remote, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and metrics. Good at problem-solving.
  • Being proactive in terms of anticipating current and future needs.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in Norwegian and English. Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese or French is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Experience from work in an aid organization is an advantage, but not a requirement
