We are looking for a new Head of Communications to lead our organization's external communication, both for profiling the organization and to achieve advocacy objectives.

Rainforest Foundation Norway is a growing organization that partners with key civil society organizations in rainforest countries and mobilizes international support for increased rainforest efforts from public and private actors.

We seek an experienced leader with a communications and/or environmental protection background. You would lead a professional and well-qualified communication team and be part of the organization's extended management team, reporting to the Advocacy Director. You will also coordinate communication efforts across other units in RFN.

Key Accountabilities, but not limited to:

· Select, lead, and strategically manage RFNs' external communication towards selected stakeholders

· Improve and increase RFN's visibility among key target groups

· Leading and developing the communication team and its members

· Monitoring and reporting RFN's communication efforts

· Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Relevant knowledge, experience, and personal qualities:

· Multiple years of relevant experience in external communication. Experience from rainforest related

· Higher education is desirable

· Strong analytical skills

· Leadership and line-management experience

· Demonstrated communication skills

· Fluency in written and verbal English required. The Norwegian language is an asset

· Excellent relationship building, planning, and organizational skills

· Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and experience working in multicultural settings.

· Excellent knowledge and experience of communications strategy.

· Personal attributes: Strategic thinker, solution-oriented and structured

The position is full-time and permanent at our newly refurbished head office in Oslo. It is a management position, considered particularly independent, with staff responsibility for four permanent employees.

Rainforest Foundation Norway supports indigenous peoples and traditional populations of the world’s rainforests in their efforts to protect their environment and secure their customary rights. RFN was established in 1989 and works alongside local environmental, Indigenous, and human rights organizations in the main rainforest countries in the Amazon region, Central Africa, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. RFN is an independent organization, and part of the international Rainforest Foundation network, with sister organizations in the United Kingdom and the USA.
