Public Finance Programme Co-Lead, Norway
Want to make the financial sector work for people and the climate? This might be the perfect position for you.
The Nordic Center for Sustainable Finance works to phase out all finance to fossil fuels from financial institutions in the Nordic region. Focusing on Nordic banks, pension funds and public finance, we uncover and expose fossil fuel investments and offer advice on how to develop and implement oil, gas and coal exclusion policies. This new role will lead a campaign aiming to make the Norwegian Oil Fund more sustainable, mainly focusing on its investments in coal, oil and gas.
The Role
The role will primarily be responsible for developing and implementing our work on the Oil Fund, including, but not limited to, writing reports and briefs, leading communications efforts and driving our advocacy on the issue. The role will work closely with the other Public Finance Programme Co-Lead based in Oslo, the rest of the Nordic Center for Sustainable Finance and other civil society organisations in Norway and overseas.
The Norwegian Oil Fund is the world’s largest Sovereign Wealth Fund and one of the most influential financial institutions in the global finance sector. Despite its climate ambitions, our research finds that it is still heavily invested in coal. Further, it is Europe’s single biggest investor in all fossil fuels. Its sheer size and its ambition to lead on climate globally makes it an important player internationally. The role will also support our work on the Norwegian export credit agency, Eksfin and potentially other workstreams on banks and pension funds.
